Radio host Mel Greig, who was behind a royal prank call linked to the death of a UK nurse- Jacintha Saldanha, has reportedly sued her employer- Southern Cross Austereo, saying that it failed to provide a safe workplace.

Greig's lawyer, Slater and Gordon practice group leader for commercial litigation Steven Lewis, said the application by Adelaide-born DJ had been lodged with the Fair Work Commission this week, News.com.au reported.

The lawyer told advertiser.com.au that Greig has claimed that the radio station failed to maintain a safe workplace.

The national workplace relations tribunal is said to be trying a conciliation conference for the two parties and if the issue cannot be resolved, Grieg will have to seek legal recourse in a federal court.
