Yaduveer Krishnadatta Chamaraja Wadiyar, the scion of the Royal Family of Mysuru donned the mantle of a teacher for a day, to generate awareness and motivate others to take to the noble profession of teaching.
"There is a lack of volunteers in teaching. Schools, grounds, notebooks, grounds, everything is there but there are not enough teachers. To educate the children, we need teachers, so if people volunteer and this issue gains publicity, then more people would volunteer for teaching," said Wadiyar.
Under the programme titled "Learn with the Maharaja", Wadiyar interacted with the students of a government school in southern Karnataka and narrated them the history and heritage of Mysuru.
The students were excited and surprised to see the royal scion as their teacher.
"We are very happy and also surprised. Despite being a Maharaja, he came to our government school and interacted with us," said a student, Manasa.
The scion was anointed the 27th Wadiyar King of Mysore at the Amba Vilas Palace last year.
