The Rajya Sabha was adjourned till 2.30 p.m after an unrelenting opposition refused to allow proceedings to continue till the Governor of Arunachal Pradesh J.P. Rajkhowa is recalled.

The Congress had earlier accused the Centre of destabilising its government in Arunachal Pradesh and with pursuing a policy of "RSS-isation of the northeast."

Leader of Opposition in the Rajya Sabha Ghulam Nabi Azad said the situation in Arunachal Pradesh was "in bad shape" following Governor Rajkhowa's "unconstitutional" actions and warned that the central government will be responsible for any deterioration of the situation in the sensitive border state.

Chief Minister Nabam Tuki has also appealed to President Pranab Mukherjee and Prime Minister Narendra Modi to intervene and uphold the Constitution in the face of what he called the "unprecedented murder" of democracy and the "bypassing" of a democratically-elected government by Governor Rajkhowa.
