Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) leader Indresh Kumar on Monday called for an open debate on Article 370.

"I have asked the people who support the article to give me a list on how India and Jammu and Kashmir have benefited from this? But we don't hear anyone listing the benefits, only the limitations are being enumerated. I think it is important to have an open debate on Article 370," Kumar told ANI.

He added that the government's commitment over the matter was clear and it wasn't taking a u-turn on Article 370.

Earlier on Sunday, The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) said the repeal of Article 370 continues to be its core ideology, adding that it would work on it whenever it achieves the two-third majority in the Parliament.

"As far as Article 370 is concerned, the whole issue of repealing this article will not see the light of the day until and unless there is a two-third of majority in the Parliament. The removal can only happen when there is two-third majority in the Parliament. But in future when we have the required mandate, we will work towards its removal," BJP spokesperson Sambit Patra had said.
