'Run for Unity' should not be politicized, says Rajnath Singh

Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh on Sunday stated that the 'Run for Unity' campaign should not be seen through the prism of politics as it was an initiative meant for the betterment of the nation.

"It should not be looked through the lens of politics, like our Prime Minister Narendra Modi has called for Run for Unity should not be seen through this prism, there is an idea behind that effort, it's an initiative for betterment of nation," Singh told the media at an event organised by Nirankari foundation here at the National Stadium.

A nationwide marathon will take place on October 31 to celebrate the birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel. It will also be celebrated as the National Unity Day every year.

 

Several programmes have been lined up to mark the event to be observed by ministries and departments of the Government of India and all the state governments and administrators of all the Union Territories.

The Ministry of Human Resource Development has been requested to issue suitable instructions that the students of schools and colleges may be administered the Rashtriya Ekta Diwas pledge to motivate them to strive to maintain the unity and integrity of the country.
