United States multinational mass media corporation 21st Century Fox has confirmed that James Murdoch will replace his father Rupert as the firm's chief executive on July 1.
Rupert will become executive co-chairman, along with his other son Lachlan, who is serving as the co-chairman, reported the BBC.
The 84-year-old said in a statement that his sons would "strive to take the company to new levels of growth".
He is expected to still have the final say in decisions at the company, which owns both Fox News as well as the 20th Century Fox film studio.
