Russian President Vladimir Putin has issued a decree opening the country's armed forces to foreign career soldiers to serve in the army for at least five years.

According to BBC, experts said that the move is not linked to the Ukraine conflict.

Russia will take foreign volunteers only on the conditions that they know and speak Russian language.

Russians along with some foreign fighter are currently involved in the battle in Ukraine while Russia denies sending any troops there.

Putin's decree on foreign soldiers is part of moves to professionalize the Russian armed forces, says an analyst.
