Russian Ambassador to India, Alexander M. Kadakin, on Monday assured that Moscow will not do anything detrimental to New Delhi's security and interests.
"Russia will not do anything detrimental to Indian security, detrimental to Indian interest," said Kadakin.
"Helicopters that Pakistan is asking for are civilian. You must be rest assured, India is a strategic partner and closest friend," he added.
He also urged India to engage in more dialogue with Pakistan so as to improve relationship with the Asian neighbour.
"You (India) should engage in more dialogue to improve relationship with Pakistan," he added.
The statement came ahead of Russian President Vladimir Putin's two-day visit to India beginning on December 10 for the 15th Annual India-Russia Summit.
