The Russian Athletics Federation (RAF) has stated that it is likely to take legal action against a German television, after being accused of doping and corruption charges in a documentary.
RAF president Valentin Balakhnichey stated that the documentary was a provocation aimed at discrediting Russian sport, adding that they would take the appropriate legal action, if possible, for the slanderous allegations leveled against them, the BBC reported.
Former discus thrower Yevgeniya Pecherina claimed that 99% of athletes representing Russia use banned substances.
The documentary, shown by Das Erste, features Russian athletes and coaches admitting to doping.
The RAF reiterated that it is committed to its fight against doping in sport and they will continue this process.
However, the Russian Anti-Doping Agency (Rusada) has affirmed that it was open its own investigation and would publish its findings on its official site.
