A Russian priest has said that coloured football boots are a 'homosexual abomination' and players might as well wear women's underwear.
Alexander Shumsky said that by wearing bright coloured boots footballers are promoting the 'gay rainbow'.
According to The Daily Star, Shumsky, while writing for a Christian website in Russia, wrote that wearing pink or blue shoes, the players might as well wear women's knickers or a bra.
He added that the liberal ideology of globalism clearly wants to oppose Christianity with football.
Shumsky said that he is glad that the Russian players have and, by the grace of God, no longer participate in the homosexual abomination.
Bright or multi-coloured boots are hugely popular with footballers and manufacturers reportedly use the World Cup as an opportunity to showcase their latest models.
German sportswear giant Puma recently released a pink and blue boot combination for the tournament, which were worn by stars like Mario Balotelli and Cesc Fabregas, the report added.
