Australia recorded a resounding 405-run over a sloppy England side to level the Ashes series 1-1 on the fourth day of the second Test at Lord's.

The tourists posted a daunting target of 509 after declaring their second innings at 254-2 shortly before the lunch.

David Warner regained form by scoring a well made 83, while last innings double-centurion Steven Smith smacked a quick-fire 58 at the home of cricket.

Chris Rogers, who made a brilliant first-innings 173, also made 49 before retiring hurt following experiencing a dizzy spell.

In reply, England crumbled against the Australia's much-vaunted bowling attack as the hosts were bundled out for a dismal 103 in mere 37 overs.

Pace spearhead Mitchell Johnson was the pick of the bowlers as he returned figures of 3-27. While Josh Hazlewood and spinner Nathan Lyon shared four wickets between themselves, Mitchell Starc and Mitchell Marsh claimed one wicket each.

None of the England's top-order batsmen were able to cross the 30 run-mark as Stuart Broad was the top scorer for his side, with 25.
