Senior Congress leader S.M. Krishna has given the thumbs down to the Gujarat model of development, and said that the 2014 general elections will be no different to the previous polls in terms of predictions or results.

"This election is no different than the previous election held in 2009. The only difference is that the BJP has projected it's prime ministerial candidate. I do not see any Modi wave, infact his detractors within his party is increasing everyday. I think if I ever have anything to say in governance, I certainly would not adopt Modi model, the Adanis and Ambanis have exploited Gujarat's natural resources and land resources, Adani in particular. It is mindboggling to see how the people of Gujarat has been taken for a ride and they were kept in ignorance," Krishna said.

The senior Congress leader also negated the noise on corruption as he stated, "I agree with Sam Pitroda that corruption is being made a big deal. In every administration there is certain percentage of corruption, you have that in lower level, middle level or even in the highest level."

Krishna termed that though Modi was not a threat to the nation but number of Islamic countries with whom India has built its ties over a period of time need to be assured that India's secular fabric won't get affected.

"Narendra Modi is not a threat for the nation but it is important to bear in mind that there are a number of Islamic relations with whom we have built our relations over a period of three -five decades. Thirty percent of our crude oil comes from a leading Islamic countries, hence, these countries need to be assured that India's secular character will not be changed. I think we need to assure those nations about that," Krishna added.
