South African golf legend Gary Player has said that former world number one Tiger Woods could have won up to 23 major if the American hadn't had lessons from four different people.
Woods' form has declined in recent times and the 14-time Major winner is currently ranked 101st on the official world golf rankings. He trails 18-time major winner Jack Nicklaus on the all-time list.
Player admitted that it's tough to say whether Woods, whose last major triumph came at the 2008 US Open and critics believe his chances of adding to his major tally are slim, would ever win a major title again, Sport24 reported.
Player said that he would not be surprised if Woods never wins another major, and he also wouldn't be surprised if the American won several. He added that Woods has got a lot of fuel in the tank, insisting that he's got something that no other golfer had.
Nine-time Major winner Player said that Woods at his best was way better than anybody playing these days, insisting that in fact, the American at his best was the best that's ever lived. However, he said that Woods got things wrong by taking advice from too many people later in his career.
Player said that he believes if the former world number one never had lessons, when he won the US Open by 15 shots in 2000, if he then never had another lesson in his life, he would have won 20, 22, 23 majors. But he added that Woods went and had lessons from four different people and he got so confused.
