SAD-BJP will fulfill all promises made in its manifesto: Bikram Singh Majithia

Commenting on the election manifesto released by the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in alliance with Siromani Akali Dal (SAD) for the upcoming Punjab Elections, Punjab Cabinet Minister Bikram Singh Majithia on Sunday assured that whatever promises has been made in the manifesto would surely be fulfilled.

"It has never happened that Parkash Singh Badal had made some promises and not fulfilled it. The state government can only provide one relief to the farmers that were from the electricity bill, which was waved off by our government, rest is under the Central Government," Majithia told ANI.

Further taking jibe at the grand old party, Majithia said that SAD-BJP Government is not like the Congress who never comes up with its promise, adding that if Parkash Singh Badal has made a promise it would be fulfilled.

 

"Akali Dal's manifesto is not like Congress. Who keeps on making promises and takes a U-turn when the time of implementing it is near. If they would have kept their promises they won't have lost seats in various states," he added.

Earlier in the day, Finance Minister Arun Jaitley released the BJP's manifesto for the Punjab Assembly polls and said the alliance with SAD will continue like before and added that his party would expand developmental activities if given another term in the state.

Jaitley said that the major focus would be to implement the Goods and Services Tax (GST).

"The alliance with SAD will continue like before and we will further expand developmental activities if given another term in the state," he told the media.

Jaitley further said the manifesto focuses on physical infrastructure, poverty elimination, education and health care.

The BJP's manifesto for Punjab includes free education till PhD for girls belonging to economically weaker sections and job for every family.

The Finance Minister also talked about the government's demonetisation drive.

"A good move never fails," he said while responding to a poser on the success of demonetisation.

Punjab will vote on February 4 and the counting will take place on March 11.
