At the recently held Tokyo Motorcycle Show, the Metropolitan Police Department marked their presence at the Japan's biggest motorcycle event.
They promoted riding safety for the visitors.
Over one lakh visitors, who gathered at Tokyo Big Sight, were the actual bike riders.
Metropolitan Police Female Motorcycle Officers Squad, "Queen Stars" showcased their motorcycle drill performance at the outdoor exhibition space.
They are one of the best skilled riders in Japan.
The members are highly trained for their duty on the traffic, with the high-performance Honda VFR800 customised motorcycles.
The elite squad of female motorcycle officers "Queen Stars" shows the elegant and sharp riding techniques to the audiences.
Officer Chiyojima of the Metropolitan Police Department said, "My name is Officer Chiyojima, I am a member of "Queen Stars" Motorcycle Police squad of the Metropolitan Police Department. Queen Stars,The female motorcycle police officers squad, was established in 2012. Our activities includes wide variations of services such as the leadership at parades and Tokyo Marathons event, we provide practical guidances at motorcycle riding schools, and we take initiatives on traffic safety education provide for children to elderly people. We are actively working to prevent traffic accidents every day."
Road accidents on Tokyo streets are increasing every day which remains a cause of concern for the authorities.
The female police riders promote traffic safety close to the civil riders.
Chiyojima further said, "Today, we showed a tutorial demonstration for the stable riding forms and important braking skill. Braking is the most important for motorcycle operation. Our performance also demonstrates the three pattern of basic forms for the smooth driving. It is important to master the correct forms of riding. The correct forms will prevent accidents, and it assures riders for fun driving."
You may think motorcycle is a popular men's hobby, but riding a motorcycle is no longer a men's activity.
More and more women are getting motorcycle license and taking out to the open road.
Tokyo Motorcycle Show offers the "Lady's Support Square" booth, dedicated to women motorcycle riders.
Daisuke Sakurai of Crete.Co. Ltd. said, "We are introducing goods from Japanese motorcycle industry that are firmly supporting women's fun motorcycle riding now. There is increasing number of women riders. Recently, the numbers of young female riders in their 20s and the middle age female in their 40s are especially increasing, Middle ages women are getting licenses after their marriage and settled in household. We aim to support those female riders as much as possible."
Manufacturers are now designing lightweight motorcycles for women riders. The focus is also on low seat heights to make female riders comfortable while riding.
Beauty section at the Show catches the fancy of female visitors.
Sakurai further said, "This is the beauty section. Women who enjoy outdoors and motorcycles have a lot of concerns about their skin troubles. Women riders are especially taking skin damages by the wind and exhaust gas, In here, we are introducing cosmetics and make up instructions recommended for women riders."
Accessories and jackets for women riders were also put on display at the Motor Show.
Most women riders are choosing padded jackets, elbows, shoulders and back for safety while riding.
A motorcycle magazine for women was also issues which gives solution to women riders.
