Bollywood actor Salman Khan's appeal for bail in the 2002 hit-and-run case has begun at the Bombay High Court.

Advocate Amit Desai who is arguing Salman's case, has asked the judge for some time for papers to reach court.

Salman himself, however, is not there.

Meanwhile, security has been tightened outside the actor's Galaxy Apartments residence in the Bandra area of Mumbai.

On Wednesday, a Mumbai Sessions Court found Salman guilty of culpable homicide and sentenced him to five years imprisonment in connection with the 2002 hit-and-run case, where he ran over a homeless person and injured four others.

However, the Bombay High Court granted him a two-day interim bail for the same.
