External Affairs Minister Salman Khurshid on Monday said that the main focus of the 16th round of the recently held boundary talks with China was peace and tranquillity between the two nations.

"The NSA has returned from China, he had a good meeting with the new Special Representative. We are concentrating on peace and tranquillity on the border, we are also working closely to eliminate any hiccups," he said.

Khurshid said that India now has the Chinese perspective.

"We are not trying to negotiate the border issue with the Chinese, they have given us a draft and suggested a few things. These things take a bit of time as every minute detail has to be carefully studied. We are taking our time as we don't want any haste," he added.

The talks were held in Beijing last week between National Security Adviser Shivshankar Menon, who has been designated Special Representative and the newly appointed Chinese counterpart Yang Jiechi.
