American actor Sam Shepard was recently arrested for drunk driving outside a restaurant in Santa Fe, New Mexico, it has been revealed.
Lt. Andrea Dobyns of the Santa Fe Police Department told E! Online that the officers could smell alcohol on the Pulitzer-winning playwright and he had bloodshot, watery eyes.
Dobyns said that the 71-year-old actor performed their standard field sobriety tests during which officers observed enough clues to arrest Shepard for the DUI.
The Oscar-nominated actor is still in jail and police revealed that the actor needed to be arraigned before he was released.
