Artist Sudarshan Patnaik created a sand sculpture on the shore of Puri beach in Odisha to pay homage to Syrian refugee toddler Aylan Kurdi who was found dead on the shores of Greek island of Kos.

Patnaik created a sand sculpture of Kurdi with a message "Blessed are those who save & serve humanity".

"I have made this sand sculpture to make an appeal that all should move forward and serve the humanity. Few European countries have opened their doors for migrants. This little child has raised the issues of the migrant crisis worldwide," said Patnaik.

Two days after the tragedy on September 02, Patnaik had created another sand sculpture in homage to Kurdi with a message "Humanity washed ashore, Shame Shame Shame".

Images of the boy found face down at the shore not only shocked everyone but also brought out the question of humanity during the European refugee crisis.

Kurdi was washed ashore after drowning off the Turkey coast on Wednesday. The boy, 3-year-old Aylan Kurdi, died after his boat capsized.
