All India Tennis Association (AITA) chief Anil Khanna on Monday hailed tennis ace Sania Mirza becoming the world number one in tennis doubles as one of the greatest achievements in Indian sporting history.
"Sania becoming the world number one is one of the greatest achievements for any Indian woman sportsperson in the history of Indian sports. It is a matter of great achievement for any Indian sports person," Khanna said.
Sania and her Swiss partner Martina Hingis achieved the numero uno rankings after beating the Aussie-Croatian pair of Casey Dellacqua and Darija Jurak 6-0, 6-4 on Sunday to win the Women's Tennis Association (WTA) Family Circle Cup.
