Former Indian tennis player Ankita Bhambari on Sunday showered praise on Sania Mirza after her historic win at the Wimbledon's women's doubles title with Martina Hingis, saying it was a great achievement for the Indian tennis circuit.

"It's a fantastic victory for Sania Mirza, her family and the entire Indian tennis circuit. We've seen wishes falling from everywhere and everyone is very excited about her first doubles win. It's a great achievement for Indian tennis and for all those parents who think that it's a road that cannot be achieved, it's a milestone that no one can achieve, she has proved everyone wrong," Bhambari said.

"She had the best support from Martina Hingis. We saw that in the match yesterday. She was the leader throughout and helped Sania navigate those rough quarters even when they were down in the final set," she told ANI.

Speaking on the injuries and the obstacles that Mirza has faced during her career so far, she said that injuries are bound to occur in a journey of every sportsperson and added that it's all part and parcel of the game.

"Sania has been playing on this platform for a very long time. Over the years, she has matured very well as a player and had fantastic double's partners which have made her a very good player today and obviously she is world number one in doubles," she added.

Sania and her partner Martina Hingis delivered a 5-7 7-6(4) 7-5 blow to their Russian competitors Elena Vesnina and Ekaterina Makarova.

This is Sania's latest heist after winning three mixed doubles Grand Slam trophies.
