The Premier of the Canadian province of Saskatchewan, Brad Wall, will be on a trade mission to India from November 16 to 23, 2014. The week-long mission will include stops in Mumbai, Ahmedabad, Delhi, Muzzarfarnagar (Uttar Pradesh) and Chandigarh.

During his second visit to India, Premier Wall will explore areas of deeper cooperation in energy, agri-food and innovation. He is also expected to profile business opportunities in the province of Saskatchewan for Indian investors.

"Saskatchewan led Canada's exports to India in 2013 - one billion dollar worth of products," Premier Brad Wall said.

"But we can build on that base even further, with our demonstrated strengths in the food, fuel and fertilizer that expanding economies like India need," he added.

Program highlights include- meetings on business and investment, interaction with key Indian government and industry leaders at the national and state levels, and discussion with representatives of India's Atomic Energy Commission and the pulses and grains association.

Premier Wall will deliver keynote addresses at a reception from the Canada-India Business Council's in Mumbai and at a luncheon with Gujarati investors in Ahmedabad.

He will also address the audience at the opening ceremony of Agro-Tech 2014 in Chandigarh and speak to the importance of potash at a meeting with 400 farmers in Muzzarfarnagar, Uttar Pradesh.

India has rapidly become one of Saskatchewan's major trading partners and Premier Brad Wall is cultivating that growing relationship in a visit to the country.

"Saskatchewan can be an important partner as India achieves food self-sufficiency and improves the productivity of its crops. We can support the country's ambitious nuclear energy program and we can help it 'green' its coal industry through our world-leading expertise in carbon capture and storage," Premier Wall said.

Saskatchewan's exports to India were 999 million dollars in 2013, an increase of 69 per cent since 2007. Saskatchewan's imports from India were 40 million dollars in 2013, an increase of 244 per cent since 2007.

India is Saskatchewan's second largest source for immigrants, with 10 per cent of all permanent residents that came to Canada from India between 2007 and 2013.
