Smelling political conspiracy behind the strike by the MCD workers, Delhi Public Works Department (PWD) Minister Satyendar Jain on Sunday alleged that they were being forced to do the same by the municipal councillors.
"The workers are not willing to go on strike. They are being forced to go on the strike. The MCD councillors are leading the strike. It is a political game now," said Jain.
Jain, who met the North and East MCD Commissioners this morning, said that he has got an assurance from them that the workers would get back to work at the earliest.
"We have instructed the MCD workers to clean the city. The MCD Commissioners have assured us that the workers will get back to work. We have also told them to get the private workers on work and clean the garbage," he said.
Meanwhile, the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) volunteers took to the streets to clear up the growing pile of garbage across the national capital.
