Saudi Arabia's interior ministry has reportedly said that it has arrested 93 people suspected of belonging to Islamic State (IS) and thwarted several plots.

The official Saudi Press Agency said that the arrests had been taking place since December and all but five of the suspects were Saudi nationals, reported the BBC.

It added that the terror group was operating training camps in a remote area of the Al Qassim region and had planned suicide attacks.

One of the alleged targets was the United States embassy in the capital of Riyadh.

The nation is a member of the U.S.-led coalition that is carrying out air strikes against the IS militants, who control large parts of Iraq and Syria.
