In a first, Saudi Arabia cabinet has decided to allow women to nominate candidates, vote and contest the municipal elections next year.
According to The Dawn, King Abdullah had earlier announced that women will be allowed to participate in the election due to take place in 2015 and the move is a fulfillment of that promise.
However, the report also added that it is unclear how the women will be allowed to campaign during elections in a society that is largely patriarchal and conservative.
