Saurashtra Cricket Association has pledged to donate a sum of Rs 21 lakhs each to the Prime Minister's Relief Fund and the Chief Minister of Gujarat's Relief Fund to aid the battle against COVID-19 outbreak.
"The President Jaydev Shah and Secretary Himanshu Shah on behalf of Apex Council and members of Saurashtra Cricket Association declare donations of Rs 21 lacs to Prime Minister of India Relief Fund and Rs 21 lacs to Chief Minister of Gujarat Relief Fund," Saurashtra Cricket Association said in a statement.
Former Secretary of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) and Saurashtra Cricket Association, Niranjan Shah, also urged people to stay at home.
"Saurashtra Cricket Association has all care & concern for citizens of India in the challenging situation of Novel Corona Virus Pandemic. We request and urge all Indians to stay indoors, stay fit and stay safe," Shah said in a statement.
The number of cases tested positive for coronavirus rose to 724 on Friday, according to the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare.
The number of people who have been cured or discharged stands at 66 while there are 640 active COVID-19 patients in the county. Seventeen people have died from the disease while one case has migrated, Union Health Ministry stated.
