Delhi Gladiators will take on runners-up Maratha Yoddhas in the first semi-final clash on August 5 while North East Tigers will face Haryana Warriors a day later to book their place in the finals of the ongoing Super Boxing League (SBL).
The last round of fixtures in the league stage of the SBL determined the four teams who have qualified for the semi-finals as Delhi Gladiators and North East Tigers won their respective matches to top Group A and Group B respectively.
It has been an exciting four weeks of boxing action here at Siri Fort Squash and Badminton Stadium which has also seen Haryana Warriors and Maratha Yoddhas register their berths in the semi-finals of the inaugural edition of the league.
The penultimate weekend started with the Delhi Gladiators drawing their match against the OPM Punjab Sultans 9-9 to make it seven points from their three matches to take top spot in Group A.
OPM Punjab Sultans failed to qualify for the semi-finals as they could only play out a draw with Gladiators, on a night where they needed to win by a huge margin. It meant that Haryana Warriors qualified as the runners-up team in the Group with 6 points from their three games.
In Group B, Mumbai Assassins and Bahubali Boxers ended their campaign with a 9-9 draw as both the teams failed to win any of their three matches in the league, staying at the bottom of Group B with a point each.
However, Sunday night determined the Group B toppers as North East Tigers beat Maratha Yoddhas 11-8 to maintain their 100% record in the league. North East Tigers and Maratha Yoddhas finished with 9 points and 6 points respectively from their three matches.
