The Supreme Court on Wednesday directed the Centre to ensure that the ongoing probe on those suspected of stashing black money in bank accounts abroad is completed by March 2015.
The apex court also said that if for any reasons the probe remains inconclusive, the Centre will take appropriate decision to extend the deadline.
The Chief Justice of India (CJI) H L Dattu-headed Bench asked the Special Investigation Team (SIT) to consider the plea for furnishing certain information and correspondences received by it to the petitioners without blackening the contents.
The Bench also accepted the plea of senior advocate Ram Jethmalani's counsel Anil Divan that the SIT should consider providing him the copies of the reports of its probe into the black money cases.
The next hearing in the case has been set for January 20.
