The Supreme Court on Friday dismissed a Public Interest Litigation (PIL) seeking a stay on Airtel Half Marathon scheduled to be held in Delhi on November 20.
A bench headed by Chief Justice of India T.S. Thakur said people are free to run; whether they run or not, the court has nothing to do that.
Running is a basic right of the people, the CJI added.
The petitioner said Delhi is too polluted for marathon running, who can cause problems to runners, and should be thus stopped.
