BCCI counsel, Aryama Sundaram on Friday said that what the Supreme Court had said in its interim order was much on the same lines as proposed by the BCCI itself and given in writing. He also refuted whatever allegations that were made against Mahendra Singh Dhoni, captain of the Indian cricket team.

"This is exactly what the BCCI had proposed yesterday, the BCCI made very clear that since BCCI was concerned with a swift investigation and that it should be conducted with complete probity and that there should not be any element of public doubt that Srinivasan will not discharge as President of the BCCI and that someone else could discharge for the time being, this was a proposal given in writing by the BCCI. The court order is very much on the same lines that Srinivasan will not discharge, so far concerning the BCCI activities are concerned," Sundaram said.

He also stated that BCCI had countered on the logic to suspend IPL -7 when reports were still left to be investigated

"We were also very particular that there should not be any suspension or disqualification of any team at this juncture especially since everything as per the report was unverified and had to be further investigated and also subject to any decision to be taken in suitable disciplinary proceedings. We felt at this juncture we could not without all this stop a team from playing which will heavily impact the success of the IPL and would affect millions of cricket loving public and I very that the court did not pass any order which interferes with any team participating in the IPL," Sundaram added.

BCCI counsel, Sundaram defended Dhoni in his staunchest manner as he stated, "I think that comments on Indian captian Mahendra Singh Dhoni that he tried to cover up was most unfortunate, were reckless and were never ought to have been made. It is very sad day that such comments are publicized all over and just to further a case, when he is captaining the India team and so well today and they are all looking forward to bringing home India a trophy from Bangladesh. I only wish we would look ahead the love of cricket and not try to make all kinds of scurrilous allegations which are not born out and when the matter is heard on the 16th of April we will reply and establish that such allegations were reckless and uncalled for."

The Supreme Court on Friday passed its interim order on related to the controversial role of BCCI president N.Srinivasan in the 2013 Indian Premier League spot-fixing scam that it will not stop the seventh edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL), which is currently dogged by a spot-fixing scandal while replacing Srinivasan with former India captain Sunil Gavaskar as BCCI interim president till IPL7.

The apex court on Tuesday asked Srinivasan to consider stepping down to facilitate a fair probe into the spot fixing scandal that hit the sixth edition of the IPL last year.

The Supreme Court made its observation on reports submitted to it by a probe panel headed by retired Justice Mukul Mudgal.

Justice Mukul Mudgal and his team - including L. Nageswara Rao and Nilay Dutta - had submitted their probe panel report on February 10. The Mudgal committee submitted two reports to the Supreme Court on February 10.

Srinivasan's son-in-law Gurunath Meiyappan, who was a team official of Chennai Super Kings, has been indicted by a Supreme Court appointed inquiry committee of betting and sharing team information.
