The Supreme Court on Friday issued notice to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on a plea by the Delhi Government seeking the return of documents that the agency had taken from the office of Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal following a raid at the office of the principal secretary Rajendra Kumar.
During the raids at Rajendra Kumar's office, the agency had taken into its possession the documents in the wake of the allegations of wrong doing on the part of the said officer.
Kejriwal had claimed that this was done to scuttle the DDCA probe against Union Finance Minister Arun Jaitley and others and many of those documents seized related to that investigation.
The lower court had directed the CBI to return some documents following which the investigating agency had appealed against this in the High Court which stayed the lower court's order.
