The Supreme Court on Monday issued notice to six states on the issue of releasing more than 300 'normal' persons residing in mental hospitals.
Kerala, Rajasthan, West Bengal, Meghalaya and Jammu and Kashmir have been served with the notice in the matter.
The petitioner in the PIL had pleaded, saying that in more than seven different mental hospitals across the nation around 300 'normal' people are leading a 'pathetic' life along with the patients.
