The Supreme Court has ordered a stay on admissions in 100 medical seats in Hi-Tech Medical College and Hospital, Rourkela, and 50 seats in Kalinga Institute of Medical Sciences, Bhubaneswar, Odisha.

The apex court has directed the Medical Council of India (MCI) to review the status of the colleges and submit a report. The verdict came after MCI moved the apex court following the Orissa High Court's verdict.

The Hi-Tech Medical College in Rourkela had earlier moved the High Court, challenging the MCI order disallowing admission in the MBBS and BDS streams this year citing lack of adequate infrastructure.
