The Supreme Court on Thursday stayed criminal defamation proceedings against Congress vice president Rahul Gandhi after he had allegedly blaming the RSS for the 1948 assassination of Mahatma Gandhi.
Rahul Gandhi had filed a petition before the apex court seeking a stay on the order of the Bombay High Court that had dismissed his plea for quashing the defamation case against him.
An RSS activist Rajesh Kunte had alleged that Gandhi had used the March 6. 2014 Sonale rally to accuse the saffron outfit of killing Mahatma Gandhi and further said that Gandhi had tarnished the reputation of the RSS through that address.
