The Supreme Court will hear Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi's petition today, urging it to reject a case of defamation against him over his recent statement on the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS), which is going on in a lower court in Mumbai.

Earlier, the Congress vice-president accused the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and the RSS of trying to create disruption in plural but harmonious social fabric in Assam.

"Today, any youth contesting the ideals of the RSS is branded an anti-national. What is this RSS? Does it have exclusive licence to serve the country? Are they not the people who had pumped three bullets into the chest of Mahatma Gandhi, the Father of the Nation," Rahul said.
