German mid-fielder Bastian Schweinsteiger seems to have been clearly annoyed by Franz Beckenbauer comments, and says that he is still very capable to meet the challenge at the Premier League.

Bayern Munich legend Beckenbauer had earlier said that a move to the American Major Soccer League (MLS) would have 'made more sense' for Schweinsteiger after he signed for Manchester United club.

The former Bayern Munich player said that he was only 30 and he was confident he could adjust to the Premier League, the Daily Express reported.

The Germany captain said that it was a challenge for him to prove that he could do it there.

The 30-year old said that he had the chance to join United in 2010 but his goal was always to win the Champions League with Bayern.

He insisted that Beckenbauer would not be pleased that Schweinsteiger reckons United are a bigger club than Bayern, certainly in terms of their global appeal.
