Manchester United midfielder Bastian Schweinsteiger has delivered a stinging rebuke to his critics over his lack of pace since his arrival at the Old Trafford club.

The former Champions League winner insisted that he couldn't compete with Jamaican sprinter Usain Bolt but insisted that speed of thought was as important as sprinting skill.

According to the Mirror, the 31-year-old veteran midfielder was criticized for his lack of pace since joining the club from Bayern Munich this summer.

Lashing out at claims, the German said that he was not the fastest player in the club, but he was not the slowest either.

Schweinsteiger, who missed his side's 1-2 defeat to Norwich City in the Premier League due to suspension, believes that he was currently playing on the same level as he used to be during the World Cup in 2014.

Earlier, Bastian Schweinsteiger was handed a three-match ban by the Football Association after being found guilty of violent conduct against West Ham United's Winston Reid during their League clash.

With the first defeat at Old Trafford, United have also slipped out of the top four ahead of their next match against Stoke City on December 26.
