ANI General News

A State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) constable has invented a remote-controlled underwater hook to deal with the problems, which are faced while carrying out rescue operations in deep waters.

"We have invented an electronic hook, which will help us while carrying rescue operations in deep high flowing water. Normal hooks get stuck while carrying out operations but this hooks will not have this problem as we can stretch its legs and clear past the obstacles," Constable Vikram told ANI.

The equipment would cater to the needs of rescue teams in recovering bodies and other items. It would also be a safer option and would reduce the need for diving and risking human life.

The electronic hook weighs about 6 to 7 kg and is about 80 centimetres in length. The rescue equipment runs on a 6-watt battery.

It can easily be operated from a raft through remote control. The equipment was indigenously developed by Constable Vikram along with some other officers of his department.
