Zimbabwe earned a crucial two points by trouncing United Arab Emirates on Thursday by four wickets in their World Cup group stage tie at Saxton Field in Nelson.
Put into bat, UAE posted a respectable total of 285 runs, thanks to stellar knocks from Shaiman Anwar and Khurram Khan, who scored 67 and 45 runs respectively.
Tendai Chatara was the pick of the bowler for Zimbabwe as he captured three wickets for 42 runs.
Chasing the target, Zimbabwe got off to a good start as openers Sikandar Raza (46) and Regis Chakabva (35) put on a solid 64-run first wicket partnership.
Subsequently, Zimbabwe lost wickets at regular intervals as they were reeling at 167 for the loss of five wickets in the 33rd over.
