An encounter broke out between terrorists and the security forces in the Shuhama area of Jammu and Kashmir's Ganderbal district.
"A cordon and search operation was being conducted at this location. In the initial stage, a cordon was being led and a few rounds of gunshots were exchanged. We are conducting searches & entire area has been cordoned," K Poswal, SSP Ganderbal said.
The exchange of fire started after the terrorists opened fire at the searching party earlier on Monday.
The security personnel retaliated with firing.
Earlier, two terrorists were killed in an encounter by security forces in Khudpora area of Shopian district on Sunday.
Security personnel have also appealed to the locals to not venture inside the encounter zone since such an area can prove dangerous due to stray explosive materials. Locals have been urged to cooperate with police till the area is completely sanitised and cleared of all explosives materials if any.
