Sebastian Vettel has told Red Bull Racing that he will leave the team to join Ferrari at the end of the current season.
ABC News reports that Red Bull announced the decision on Saturday at the Japanese Grand Prix, confirming Vettel would be replaced next season by current Toro Rosso driver Daniil Kvyat.
Vettel, who is presently driving for Red Bull had been under contract with the Austrian team for next season, but had also been strongly linked with a move to Ferrari.
When asked whether he could be driving for either of rival teams McLaren or Red Bull next year, Alonso said that while it was a difficult question to answer, he would do the best for Ferrari.
