The family members of slain security personnel Pramod Kumar Satapathy have demanded capital punishment for Sabyasachi Panda, the Naxal leader who was arrested and now sent to 10-day police custody.
Anita Satapathy, wife of the then Special Operation Group commando Pramod Kumar Satapathy said, "He brutally killed my husband like a dog and has been killing many innocent and poor people therefore he deserves nothing less than the capital punishment."
Pramod Kumar Satapathy was one of the 17 officers who laid down their lives in the process of fighting armed Naxalites on February 15, 2008 in Nayagarh district of Odisha.
Sabyasachi Panda, who was wanted in over 60 criminal cases and has been arrested now, was the alleged master mind behind this attack.
Aparna Satapathy the 17-year-old daughter of Pramod Satapathy said that Sabyasachi Panda's arrest will be a great lesson for the people who have embraced the wrong way of living.
"When our father was killed we were very small and due to his busy schedule we could not spend much time with him. Therefore, we often miss him a lot especially when we see other children enjoying with their parents."
Sabyasachi Panda, Odisha's top Maoist leader was wanted in over 60 criminal cases, including the killing of Hindu leader Swami Laxmanananda Saraswati in Kandhamal in 2008 and the abduction of two Italian tourists in 2012.
Sabyasachi Panda has been sent to ten days of police custody after his arrest in Odisha.
Panda was produced in front of the Sub-Divisional Judicial Magistrate (SDJM) of Berhampur amid tight security on Friday evening where he was ordered to be sent on 10-day police custody.
Acting on intelligence information, a police team had nabbed the 48-year-old fugitive rebel leader after raiding a hideout at Berhampur in Odisha's Ganjam district.
