Security tightened across UP on Babri demolition anniversary

Security was tight in prominent cities and town of Uttar Pradesh on the 21st anniversary of the demolition of Babri mosque in Ayodhya.

The police and security personnel have been deployed on every nook and corner of the city.

Many magistrates and gazetted officers have also been deployed in Ayodhya. The 'route march' was also carried out by the security forces.

According to reports, around 10,000 personnel from state police, Rapid Action Force (RAF) and Provincial Armed Constabulary (PAC) have been deployed to maintain law and order.

The demolition of the 16th century Babri Mosque by Hindu zealots on December 6, 1992 had triggered widespread religious riots across the country.
