Selena Gomez has bagged the lead role in 'The Revised Fundamentals Of Caregiving.'
The 22-year-old singer and actress would star opposite Paul Rudd in the indie drama, which would be helmed by Emmy winner Rob Burnett, Deadline.com reported.
Rudd will play the role of Ben, a caregiver looking after a frustrated teenager named Trevor who is in the advanced stages of Duchenne muscular dystrophy. Gomez will portray a sassy young woman named Dot, who hitches a ride with the pair during a road trip, and whose forwardness and lack of embarrassment about Trevor's condition causes him to develop a crush on her.
Burnett had penned the script from Jonathan Evison's 2013 novel of the same name, and Donna Gigliotti along with James Spies would be producing the Levantine Film and Worldwide Pants production.
The movie would begin filming on January 22 in Atlanta.
