Democrat Senator Elizabeth Warren on Monday announced her intent to run for the post of President in the 2020 elections.
The Senator from Massachusetts is one of the first stalwarts from the Democrats to have announced her candidature for the 2020 Presidential elections, The New York Times reports.
Warren plans to contest against incumbent US President Donald Trump, who on one occasion called her "Pocahontas" due to her alleged Native American ancestry.
She has, in turn, labelled him as "a thin-skinned racist bully" and a "wannabe tyrant".
Speculations are rife that former Vice President Joseph R Biden Jr and Senator Bernie Sanders may also announce their intent to run for the Presidential elections.
Former Secretary of State and former First Lady Hillary Clinton was the Democrat candidate for the 2016 Presidential elections, which saw Trump's ascension to power.
