One of the most senior leaders of the Haqqani militant network was killed in a drive-by shooting near Islamabad on Sunday night.
Dr Nasiruddin Haqqani, son of Jalaluddin Haqqani, the founder of Haqqani Network, was shot dead by gunmen riding motorcycles in front of a bread shop.
According to the Express Tribune, the body was removed before the local police reached the scene.
A senior police official said that he could not confirm if it was Nasiruddin Haqqani, as they had not seen the body.
However, tribal sources confirmed the slain man was Nasiruddin.
A Haqqani Network member said that Nasiruddin's body was taken to a main town in North Waziristan for burial.
Family sources said Nasiruddin was buried in North Waziristan, where his father has built a huge religious school.
