A Superintendent of Police (SP) has been killed in an encounter with the militants in Assam's Hamren District.
According to reports, the senior police officer was leading a raid, involving three police parties, against the KPLP militants late on Thursday.
No other casualties have been reported so far. Further details are awaited.
