A goalkeeper had reportedly rescued a dying fan in the football stands after he was sent off the field for a dangerous tackle.

According to Metro.co.uk, Stocksbridge Park Steels keeper Ben Scott was walking off the field after being shown a red card during his team's Evo-Stick League Northern Premier clash when he found out that a man in the stands was in a bad condition.

Scott, who works as a staff nurse at Doncaster Royal Infirmary, said that he found that the man's heart was in an irregular rhythm, following which he and an ambulance crew administered the patient a shock that normalised his heart's rhythm.

The report said that the man was taken to hospital but has recovered and is now back home, with Scott saying that the teamwork gave that gentleman a fighting chance to live.

Meanwhile, the report said that the match ended in a 3-3 draw.
