Union Railways Minister Suresh Prabhu on Sunday said that his ministry would set up separate joint venture companies with at least 20 states for completion of projects in a time-bound manner.
Addressing a press conference in Ranchi, he said that this would help the states to have more say in the development of the rail sector.
Stressing on transparent functioning of the Indian Railways, Prabhu said e-tendering had already begun.
Besides e-monitoring to oversee projects, he said, the railways have also started e-catering, giving passengers their choice of food.
Prabhu further said that emphasis was being given on safety and
punctuality of trains.
