At least 13 people have been killed and 55 other have been wounded in a series of car bombings that hit Iraqi capital Baghdad on Monday.
One car bomb went off in the Shiite bastion of Sadr City district in eastern Baghdad, claiming lives of three people and wounding 10, while the other that was detonated in the southeastern New Baghdad district killed two people and injured 11.
In yet another explosion that took place in the northern district of Kadhmiyah, four people were killed and 12 were wounded, in the fourth explosion that took place in Sabie al-Bour, three people were killed and 13 were wounded.
A fifth car bomb struck the eastern al-Baladiyat district and killed a civilian and wounded nine.
Sources said that the death toll is expected to rise as a result of the attacks, which took place a day after a wave of insurgent attacks killed 55 people and wounded some 135 others across Iraq.
